The
centre's mission
is to relieve the
poverty of the unemployed
who are in need
in the London Borough
of Hackney particularly
and the wider community
through the provision
of advice and vocational
training and to
assist them into
gainful employment.
Since 1993 UXL has
advised residents
and businesses in
Hackney in all matters
relating to career
and personal development.
In 1996 we started
training courses
for the long-term
unemployed in IT.
As demand grew the
services expanded
to Sound Engineering
training for the
young people aged
16-24 years and
thereafter PC maintenance
and networking,
Cisco CCNA, CompTIA
A+, PC Support and
Systems Technology,
Basic Skills and
English for Speakers
of Other Languages
for all ages.
Other
programs include
coaching and mentoring
local business managers,
carrying out training
needs assessment
and drawing up customised
training plans.
These
main programs decant
their clients into
UXL Recruitment,
which assist people
into employment
free of charge.
The
Board
The
Board is the ultimate
decision making
body of UXL. The
Board keeps the
strategic direction
of UXL under review,
supported by our
director and manager.
