is the course about?
The CISCO Certified
Networking Associate
course teaches students
the skills needed
to design, build,
and maintain small
office networks
up to larger intranets.
This provides
the opportunity
to enter the workforce
and / or further
their education
and training in
the computer network
field. The course
is delivered through
a mixture of on
line learning materials,
tutorials and practical
hands on sessions
in a purpose built
networking laboratory.
How
long does the course
last?
Approximately 280
hours of study are
required. This is
delivered over 24
weeks. Additional
work is required
outside of the teaching
room and it is helpful
though not essential
if students have
access to a computer.

The course is designed
to take students
to the level where
they are able to
take the CCNA (CISCO
Certified Network
Associate) examination.
This is an internationally
recognised professional
qualification in
the networking field.
Student will also
be able to gain
OCR level 3 certificate
which is built around
the CCNA programme.
What
are the progression
opportunities?
Cisco Certified
Networking Professional
(CCNP) or Microsoft
Certified Professional
(MCP) Certifications.
What
qualifications and
qualities do I need?
No prior knowledge
or qualifications
are required in
order to take the
course, however,
the course is intensive
and a degree of
home study is necessary
to ensure achievement.
Students must have
a basic knowledge
of using a PC and
problem solving
skills. Technical
aptitude is advantageous.

gives you the foundation
required to enter
this course.
How
is the course assessed?
The CCNA qualification
is attained by examination
at the end of semester
4. This can be taken
at a Prometric or
Virtual University
Enterprises (VUE)
approved examination
centre. Examination
fees are varied
between these two
examination centres.
